You can call it prescient or predetermined, but when Terry Lickona, undisputed tastemaker and producer of Austin City Limits, plucked a then relatively unknown guitar talent to tape a segment of the legendary show, one had the sense that this was just the beginning.

Since that jaw dropping performance, Monte Montgomery has embarked on an almost fantasy like rock and roll roller coaster ride filled with dizzying accomplishments and mind blowing accolades. Named one of the “Top 50 All-Time Greatest Guitar Players” by Guitar Player Magazine, he’s been called everything from “guitar-god” to the “answer to the Fermi Paradox”.

Still, despite the six-string notoriety, Monte is not content to rest on his musical laurels. “I’ve resisted temptation to be just that guitar gunslinger from Austin, Texas,” says Monte. “I strive to have more depth, to be more layered as an artist, songwriter and singer.”

Tony MacAlpine is widely known as a guitar virtuoso who is just as skilled on the keys. Edge of Insanity, one of fourteen solo albums, is still considered in the top ten shred albums of all time. Aside from his solo work, Tony has also been part of several rock supergroups including Planet X with Derek Sherinian and Virgil Donati, PSMS,(Portnoy/Sheehan/MacAlpine/Sherinian) as well as the Grammy nominated CAB with bassist Bunny Brunel and drummer Dennis Chambers, and Ring of Fire with Steve Weingart, Mark Boals, Grammy winner Philip Bynoe, and Virgil Donati. MacAlpine also spent seven years playing keys and duplicating Steve Vai’s formidable guitar leads in Vai’s touring band.

Venezuelan guitarist Felix Martin plays like no one else….literally! Martin is the only guitarist the world over to fuse two guitars into one creating both a style and sound unlike anything heard before. Mixing rock, metal, Latin, and progressive styles with jazz chops firmly plants Martin as the preeminent king of 14 and 16 string guitar.

In 1988, Don became the first Canadian to win the U.S. National Fingerpick Guitar Championship. He won again in 1996, still the only two-time winner of the competition. He signed a recording deal with Toronto-based Duke Street Records and released three CDs for them between 1989 and 1993. He then recorded three CDs for Sony/Columbia between 1994 and 1997, and then three more for Milwaukee-based Narada Records between 1999 and 2003.

With the collapse of the conventional recording industry in the early 21st century, Don entered into a new venture with Milwaukee-based CandyRat Records and its founder, Rob Poland. The move to a completely internet-based model of releasing recordings resulted in the first ever CandyRat CD, 2005’s Music for Vacuuming. Don has released numerous CDs and DVDs for the new label, including his new album, A Million Brazilian Civilians, on CD and see-through orange vinyl.

Texas Flood has become the premier Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute act in the nation. With guitarist Tommy Katona leading the way, they bring the raw high energy of music and stage presence that Stevie Ray himself had. They have had the privilege of traveling all over the country with their tribute act. It is not only a show, but a recreated experience of one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time. This is their loving tribute to the life and music of Stevie Ray Vaughan.

From her early days as a gospel singer, to her legendary status as a Texas diva, Maylee transends genre, mixing gospel-based blues with a soul driven rock, touches of pop, with the very faintest caresses of country from time to time… and audiences respond. Maylee is the soul of Texas and a must see act.
