Texas Flood has become the premier Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute act in the nation. With guitarist Tommy Katona leading the way, they bring the raw high energy of music and stage presence that Stevie Ray himself had. They have had the privilege of traveling all over the country with their tribute act. It is not only a show, but a recreated experience of one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time. This is their loving tribute to the life and music of Stevie Ray Vaughan.
From her early days as a gospel singer, to her legendary status as a Texas diva, Maylee transcends genre, mixing gospel-based blues with a soul driven rock, touches of pop, with the very faintest caresses of country from time to time… and audiences respond. Maylee is the soul of Texas and a must see act.
07/19/19 – Walter Trout
Join The Guitar Sanctuary as we present a special show with Walter Trout at The Sanctuary Music & Events Center on Friday July 19th at 8pm (doors open at 7pm) with special guest Shane Henry. VIP Tables including seating for 4 directly in front of the stage are $300 per table. (SEE SEATING CHART). Downstairs Seats (First Come, First Served) are $30 each. General Admission (Standing Room Only) Tickets on the upstairs balcony are $20 each. We will have standard Cash Bar and Food Service available from our friends at Rick’s Chophouse.
Long-standing fans have given up trying to second-guess Trout’s next move. The tracklisting of his latest Survivor Blues is a window into the 67-year-old’s fast-moving backstory, chronicling a five-decade career whose one constant is his deep love of the Blues. Opener “Me, My Guitar And The Blues” tips a hat to cult hero Jimmy Dawkins, whose records Trout devoured while cutting his teeth as a ’60s axeslinger in New Jersey. “Nature’s Disappearing” nods to his celebrated ’80s tenure in John Mayall’s near-mythical Bluesbreakers. In-between, you’ll find cherished favourites from a lifetime’s listening, with songs that caught Trout’s ear at key junctures in his journey, from backing up John Lee Hooker in the ’70s, to bringing the groove to Canned Heat in the ’80s or breaking through as a solo artist in the ’90s.
Passion and purpose tend to go hand in hand, so it’s little wonder that in the case of Shane Henry there’s an indelible bond that fuses his music to his message. One is intrinsically linked to the other. As a singer, songwriter and guitarist, he’s made it his mission to impart the emotion and inspiration he’s accumulated through the sum total of his life experiences. Henry’s stunning new album, Light in the Dark (due for release April 28), conveys that intent without hesitation. Over the course of its eleven songs, it seals the divide between blues and pop, resulting in a sound that boasts elements of both, while also retaining a freshness, spontaneity, and yes, an instantly infectious and accessible sound that expands his boundaries as both a songwriter and a musician.
07/25/19 – Charlie Hunter & Lucy Woodward
The Guitar Sanctuary is proud to present a special evening with the Charlie Hunter and Lucy Woodward on Thursday July 25th at 8pm (doors open at 7) at The Sanctuary Music & Events Center. They will be performing 2 sets beginning at 8pm with a short intermission. VIP Tables with seating for 4 directly in front of the stage are $150 per table. Downstairs Seats (First come, First Serve) are $25. General Admission (Standing Room Only on the upstairs balcony) Tickets are just $10. We’ll have Cash Bar and Food available for purchase from our friends at Rick’s Chophouse.
Recorded in November 2018 at Stephen Lee Price’s studio in High Point, NC, with longtime Hunter collaborator Derrek Phillips on the drums, Music!Music!Music! features eleven radically reworked covers of songs by artists ranging from Blind Willie Johnson and Bessie Smith to Nina Simone and Terence Trent D’Arby. Soulful, spacious and deliciously in the pocket, Music!Music!Music! showcases the dazzling interplay between Hunter’s funky guitar and Woodward’s powerful voice, while also reflecting the spontaneity and good vibes of the duo’s live performances.
08/24/19 – The Aristocrats
The Guitar Sanctuary are proud to present the The Aristocrats Live at The Sanctuary Music & Events Center on Saturday August 24th at 8pm (doors open at 7pm) with special guests the Travis Larson Band. The Aristocrats (Guthrie Govan, Bryan Beller and Marco Minnemann) have released critically acclaimed albums, toured the world, and established themselves as one of the most musically original, refreshingly irreverent, and astoundingly entertaining instrumental rock-fusion acts on the planet. Call them a virtuoso supergroup if you must, but their musical high-wire act – employing random amounts of rock, jazz, pop, metal, and even traditional country – is informed by the spirit of a true band, one whose improvisational soul allows for anything to happen onstage at any moment…including the occasional wink and nod at the audience.
